Overview
Connect SalesBlink to ChatGPT so you can manage cold email outreach without leaving your chat. Create prospect lists, launch sequences, check replies, and track campaign performance using natural language commands.
ChatGPT connects to SalesBlink through the SalesBlink MCP server. You sign in with your SalesBlink account. No API key is needed.
Prerequisites
Before you start, confirm you have the following:
- SalesBlink account: You sign in to it during setup.
- ChatGPT account: With access to Settings → Connectors and custom connectors.
Connect SalesBlink to ChatGPT
Step 1: Add a custom connector
- Open ChatGPT and go to Settings → Connectors.
- Choose to add a custom connector (MCP server).
- Name it SalesBlink.
- Paste the server URL:
https://mcp.salesblink.io/mcp
Step 2: Sign in to SalesBlink
- When the consent screen appears, sign in with your SalesBlink account.
- Approve the connection, then return to ChatGPT.
Step 3: Verify the connection
Test that ChatGPT can reach SalesBlink.
- Start a new chat in ChatGPT.
- Ask a simple question, such as:
- "Show me my SalesBlink lists"
- "What sequences are running?"
- ChatGPT should respond with live data from your SalesBlink account.
Note: ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it launches or resumes a sequence, or takes other actions that can't be undone. See Safety rules.
Example commands
Here are more examples of what you can ask ChatGPT:
| Task | Example Command |
|---|---|
| Create a list | "Create a list called Marketing Agencies in New York" |
| Add prospects | "Add these emails to my SaaS Founders list" |
| Launch a sequence | "Launch the Welcome Sequence to my new list" |
| Check replies | "Show me replies from this week" |
| View analytics | "How many opens did my campaign get yesterday?" |
| Run a test | "Run an inbox placement test for john@mycompany.com" |
| Verify emails | "Verify john@example.com and sarah@example.com" |
Use SalesBlink with Codex
If you use OpenAI Codex, you can connect it to the same MCP server:
codex mcp add salesblink --url https://mcp.salesblink.io/mcp
Then sign in to SalesBlink when prompted. For the configuration file method, see Connect SalesBlink MCP to Your AI Tool.
Alternative: Codex plugin with an API key
You can also install the SalesBlink agent skill as a Codex plugin. This method uses a SalesBlink API key instead of the sign-in flow.
- Create an API key: click Account in the Top Navbar, select Integrations, open the API tab, and click Create API Key. Enter a name (for example, "Codex"), click Create New API Key, and copy the key.
- Install the plugin:
codex plugin marketplace add https://github.com/open-salesblink/skill
- Set your API key as an environment variable:
export SALESBLINK_API_KEY=your_salesblink_api_key_here
Note: Replace
your_salesblink_api_key_herewith the key you copied in step 1. For persistence, add this line to your~/.bashrc,~/.zshrc, or.envfile.
Troubleshooting
SalesBlink doesn't respond in ChatGPT
- Confirm the connector URL is exactly
https://mcp.salesblink.io/mcp. Do not add an API key to the URL. - Open Settings → Connectors and reconnect SalesBlink to repeat the sign-in.
Plugin not found (Codex plugin)
- Confirm you are using the exact command shown above.
- Make sure Codex is up to date.
Connection failed (Codex plugin)
- Confirm your API key is active in Account → Integrations → API.
- Make sure the
SALESBLINK_API_KEYenvironment variable is exported in the same terminal session running Codex. - Restart Codex after any configuration change.
Permission errors
- Check that your SalesBlink user role has access to the lists, sequences, or senders you are asking about.
- If you use the Codex plugin, check that your SalesBlink API key has the necessary scopes for the actions you want to perform.
